Step 1 Establishing a Sense of Urgency Without a sense of urgency people don’t move. Kotter suggests that for change to be successful‚ 75% of a company’s management needs to "buy into" the change. In other words‚ you have to really work hard on Step One‚ and spend significant time and energy building urgency‚ before moving onto the next steps. Step 2 Creating the Guiding Coalition Convincing people that change is necessary often takes strong leadership and visible support from key people within

A concept I recently learned about is the Iceberg Metaphor of the unconscious mind. In this metaphor‚ the small bit of the iceberg that is visible above the water represents the conscious mind‚ or the part of the mind used for analyzing and making decisions based on information that is brought from the unconscious (or rises spontaneously). The large‚ massive part of the iceberg UNDER the water‚ however‚ represents the subconscious‚ or unconscious part of the mind. This part of the mind controls

Billions of Cryoconite holes are polluting the Earth’s icebergs. Cryoconite is made from a combination of desert dust‚ mixed with flakes of carbon‚ soot from wildfires‚ diesel exhaust‚ and coal-fired power plants. Cryoconite is a thick leaching black substance that absorbs the sun’s heat and speeds the melting process. Cryoconite is a toxic product of human industrialization. It is a bewildering concept to try to understand that humans have the capability of changing the basic chemistry of this massive

The Melting Pot For hundreds of years‚ people have been immigrating to America. The list of reasons for this action can be infinite. The most common motive is to begin a new life. Crystallization and Melting Points Organic Chemistry 221 9/19/2012 Intro/Purpose: The purpose of this lab was to use crystallization to separate a compound from a solvent and be able to choose the best solvent to do so. Then identify an unknown and verify purity using melting points. Solubility contributes to crystallization; because a solute has lower solubility at lower temperatures‚ which makes the solvent separate from the solution as a solid. This process is important to understand because

Lab #1: Melting Points of Organic Compounds Report Form May 15‚ 2014 1. A “Melting Point Range” refers to the range of temperature at which a solid melts into its liquid state. 2. Pure compounds have narrow or ‘sharp’ melting point ranges‚ 1°C or less if the compound is very pure. A less pure compound exhibits a broader melting point range‚ between 3°C to 10°C as well as a depressed or lower range. 3. Crushing the sample allows for greater surface area-to-volume ratio of the powder‚ this

Composition Period 7 May 29‚ 2014 Mr. Fields The Great Melting Pot A melting pot refers to the idea that there are multiple races in America. Some people argue that there is or may not be a melting pot in America due to the perception of American actions. After reading and listening to both sides of the argument and explanations as to if America is or is not a melting pot‚ I’ve came to the conclusion that America is not a melting pot. Instead we are more of a of salad. Heres why!

Community Art Connection The 1861 painting‚ The Iceberg by Frederic Church was one of my favorite pieces of art during my visit to the Dallas Museum or Art. What grabbed my attention were the colors of the painting. The different shades of blue gave me a sense of calmness and peace. The reflectivity of the sunlight on the iceberg was very well executed to the point where the viewer could easily tell which parts of the iceberg were colder and which parts were heated by the sun.
