Introduction
Each celebrity is an individual human that has achieved public recognition for a reason; this can be due to their creative talent or based on sporting event (Iqani, 2012: 84). Despite their achievement, another factor that succeed in captivating the public’s attention is through their body shape. Often, people amazed by celebrity’s body from magazine cover when in fact it is all about image manipulation. Celebrities are human too, not all of them have a perfect shape. Through magazine cover, they promote body shapes that are unrealistic and unattainable for many young people (Maltby, 2005). Through this essay, it will relate the importance of celebrity to consumer culture. The big question is what make celebrity has this social effect; why does celebrity impact that much? And what’s the impact to the society?

Definition of Celebrity
Celebrities are people who present in the public eye through media (Iqani, 2012: 83). Stated by Gabler (1963), a celebrity used to be defined as someone that is reckoned for their achievement throughout their life such as Madonna with her consistency as a phenomenon singer since 1982. Nevertheless, as time goes by, mentioned by Boorstin (1960), the definition of celebrity began deviated; there are people who have gained recognition for having done nothing of significance. Quick rising celebrities like the Kardashians could succeed in entering the Hollywood just by socializing with Paris Hilton which made the entire family in spotlight promptly. Such ordinary people who become well-known overnight form of attributed celebrity (Rojek, 2001: 18) which will not long last as one day they might be all over the media and the next day will be forgotten. The main reason of why celebrity could be famous is simply because of the increased presence of paparazzi and their photos in media texts boosting the demand from the readers; they were interest wanting to know the life of the famous people.
