My father and brother were both highly involved in FFA and as have I. This organization has been a huge contributor to the development of my leadership skills. Starting in the eighth grade I joined my local FFA chapter. Once I got involved I started to attend Leadership camps on the local, state, and even at the national level which is held in D.C. I also competed in many leadership development events such as Extemporaneous Speaking, Creed Speaking, and Discussion Meet. I also have been a chapter officer since ninth grade, also I was selected as a National Delegate for the state of Arkansas. Being highly involved in all of these events have helped me become a better and more effective leader everywhere I go. In my community I have been able to exert my leadership skills to their highest potential. My officer team and I have successfully put together many events for our community. One of our most effective events has been volunteering at my communities local soup kitchen. My team and I planned it out to where every Saturday we have ourselves and others from our school sign up to go and volunteer for a couple hours. Another thing that I have been able to apply my leadership …show more content…
Once in college I plan to join a student lead organization in which I can continue being a fundamental part of that particular organization. Leadership is a lifestyle, not a role one adopts. Leadership requires strength and power, but also the ability to empathize and recognize others' needs. As a high school student, I have had many opportunities to be a leader, whether it be through clubs, group projects, or extracurricular activities. During my Junior year, I assistant directed the play Steel Magnolias under the eye of my drama teacher as well as a college student director. This role allowed me to learn the ropes of directing as well as take care of the six girls cast in the show. I adapted the role of the "stage mom," making sure every hair was curled to perfection and every prop was in its place, as well as ensuring their lines were memorized and their staging was proper. I…

This is I think my leadership skills improved through my capstone project and other various volunteer opportunities. For my capstone project I adopted a classroom of a head start preschool program in Chaska where I filled backpacks with school supplies that each child needs for the fall school year. My leadership skills played a significant role when having to contact outside business to ask for donations to receive the schools supplies. In addition, I delivered the backpacks to the classroom where I had the responsibility of leading the…

While I have been in FFA I have gained more leadership skills than I thought possible. I was president on my chapters opening and closing ceremonies team so I had to step up and be my fellow member’s leader. I had to make sure everyone was there for practice, we were always on topic, and that we were prepared for the contest. Before I joined FFA one of my greatest fears was public speaking, but I overcame that fear through a little hard work and determination and became our chapter’s creed speaker. Doing this career development event really helped me because I gained confidence in myself, leadership skills, and I even went on to place 5th in West Tennessee.…

The utmost important aspect of a leader is their ultimate goal, which raises a question. What is my goal as a leader in the various aspects of my life? The ultimate goal for myself as a leader in any group of people is to inspire those I lead. One time I took a leadership role that was the most relevant to me was when I was the leader in my robotics team in high school. I needed to take the role because everyone else seemed lost and I was the only one with previous robotics experience so I told everyone if they mid if I become the group leader and no one minded. One thing I learned about myself by being the leader is I am very good at giving people specific jobs and keeping everyone on task without them getting distracted. I have partaken in TI@ti, sophomore year and currently, which is an organization based on increasing leaderships skills and increasing awareness against drugs and alcohol. Last year, I guided peers to make healthier life choices and to take positive risks. I stepped up when my advisors, Ms. Ramirez and Mr. Rosenfeld (at the time) needed presenters for the PTSO meetings, Saturday Academy for 7th and 8th graders, and for 600+ seniors who attended prom last school year. The Saturday Academy was a huge leadership role where I had to advise seventh and eighth graders on what to expect from high school. I volunteer at various locations such as for the 9/11 Day of Service, Jersey Cares Day, and Paterson’s Operation clean up. In all of these services, I did landscaping because I felt as if the…

In the past, I have demonstrated leadership as both the assistant manager of a frozen yogurt shop and as a leader in the University Honors Program as a member of the Honors Student Council. I have also exhibited leadership throughout my academic and sports career by acting as a role model for my peers and leading by example. As a leader, I know that I do not need to be the most vocal, and instead understand that I should set the standard for my peers to follow. My past leadership…
