Cognitive development is characterized by the way a child learns, acquires knowledge and interacts with his surrounding environment. Different cognitive skills are acquired as a child meets certain developmental milestones, but a child of any ability will benefit from activities that promote active learning. This week the ways I observer the child’s cognitive development was through identifying noises and practicing the alphabet, and counting. The student I observed did very well as far as identifying sounds and practicing the alphabet, and counting. He would pause for a second or two before he finally gave an answer.
