My Most Embarassing Moment
We all have experienced an embarrassing moment in our lives. Like the time someone tripped in front of everyone, spilt a drink on themselves, called someone the wrong name, and sang the wrong lyric to a song. In these situations, do we end up dwelling on that moment or do we make the best of it and laugh in the end? For me, I laugh.
Even though at the time we may not think that an embarrassing moment is funny, later on down the road we may turn back and see how precious that memory was. My most embarrassing moment focuses on an early Sunday morning at church. Everything that morning seemed to go wrong and it just kept getting worse.
Laughter and stares are all I see and hear. I don’t know what to think. I am so embarrassed and fed up with this morning. Nothing could possible get any worse than this. I don’t know what to do or say after this moment so I storm out of the church in tears.
I am awake at five in the morning rushing to get ready for school. As I am stepping out of the shower I hear my name being shouted from across the house.
“Heather,” my mom yells, “why are you up so early? Church doesn’t start until nine-thirty.”
In anger, I yell back, “OKAY MOM, SORRY! I thought I had school today.”
I take a deep breath and calm down so that I don’t get into an argument with my mom; she always tells me I have a bad mouth. Thinking about how upset I am that I woke up three hours before I needed to, I decide to take my time to find a cute outfit to wear to church. I look through my drawers and find my favorite pair of American Eagle jeans and a flowing, blue and white blouse that I just bought. Happy with the way my outfit looks I run out of the house without grabbing a bite to eat. I arrive to church; I am so excited to see what God has in store for today’s lesson. I walk through the doors and say good morning to everyone I see, trying to forget about how tired I am from waking up so early. During Sunday school we are having our regular hour and thirty minute

The sound of beeping awakens you. With difficulty and trouble, you force yourself out of bed, your brain still not yet conscious. For some time now, you have not yet listened to the world around you. As you gently shift your focus towards the world before you, your ears process the sound of anger at its highest level. You cannot believe what you hear. Vexation fills the air and you are now in an ever so dangerous environment. As you turn the corner, the sounds of the shouting get louder and louder. You can now hear loud running. Your eyeballs move to look around and then you see it…

I squeeze my son tightly and for a fraction of a second I feel at ease. Within that second, my smile slowly disappears along with the presence of my son. I run both hands through my hair and begin to cry uncontrollably. My gut-wrenching howls become louder and louder so I cover my mouth to conceal the sound. This internal chaos I am feeling sends my body into violent convulsions as if I’m suffering from a…

This morning was really easy for me. I woke up early and ate biscuits and gravy. Yum! It was so delicious. Our cook has really good taste. After I ate, I watered my horse and helped out our trail boss. He had me give out orders to some of the drovers. Soon night arose and it was time for me to do my duty on this drive. I corralled the herd and immediately watched for escaping cattle.…

Today was possibly the worst day in my entire life. I shall start from the beginning. When I woke up I felt an uncontrollable need for freedom. I had the bad feeling in the bottom of my stomach and I couldn't get rid of it. I felt terrified, captured. I sneaked out of the house and ran. I ran from myself, from the thoughts in my head. I needed to clear my mind. It felt like a huge and terribly real nightmare. An endless nightmare. I ran and prayed for all of this to be over.…

One particular situation that comes to mind, was when I was in my law lecture, and the lecturer asked me a question, my heart was racing and all I could do was keep quiet because I did not want to sound stupid, or be perceived to be dumb if my answer was incorrect as I did not want to be judged by my classmates. The whole time the lecturer was looking at me, in anticipation of the answer, I went blank, even though I was paying attention during the lecture. I felt embarrassed as I did not know what everyone would think of me, so at that moment in time, all I could do was smile at the lecturer, and the lecturer looked at me and moved on.…

Laughter can be misleading at times and doesn’t always mean that you are happy. Take for example when you are being tickled; you are experiencing a lot of pain yet the tickler continues because they think that just because you are laughing, you are enjoying yourself, when really the laughter is an expression of unbearable discomfort.…
